Deleting social media
The phenomenon of social media has had huge impact on human communication and interaction. While it brings numerous benefits into our day-to-day life, social media is also known to be a source of anxiety, depression, attention span issues, and many other health problems.
Here's how to permanently remove your accounts on some of the more prominent social media platforms:
Deleting Facebook account
- Click on the arrow-down button found in the top right corner of your Facebook page;
- Go to the Settings and privacy menu, then navigate to the Settings tab;
- In the left column, click on the Your Facebook information section. You'll find Deactivation and deletion options there;
- Choose Delete account and enter your password to confirm.
After this is done, your Facebook account will be deactivated, and your content will become inaccessible. You'll be able to cancel the deletion process for 30 more days, after which all data will be permanently deleted.
Deleting Instagram account
- Log into your account on a web browser, then go to the the Delete your account page;
- If you'd like the removal to be permanent, you'll be required to choose a reason for deleting your account;
- After choosing an option, you'll be prompted to enter your password;
- Finally, you'll be able to click the Delete [username] option.
After this is done, your Instagram account will be deactivated, and your content will become inaccessible. You'll be able to cancel the deletion process for 30 more days, after which all data will be permanently deleted.
Deleting Twitter account
- Click on the More button on the left-side menu;
- There, choose Settings and Support, and then Settings and privacy option;
- On the Your account tab, choose the Deactivate your account option;
- Enter your password once prompted to confirm the action.
After this is done, your Twitter account will be deactivated, and your content will become inaccessible. You'll be able to cancel the deletion process for 30 more days, after which all data will be permanently deleted.
Deleting TikTok account
- Go to your TikTok profile page;
- There, tap on the three-lines button. Choose Settings and Privacy in the pop-up menu;
- Select Manage account;
- Scroll down to find the Delete account option;
- Follow the instructions presented by the app.
After this is done, your TikTok account will be deactivated, and your content will become inaccessible. You'll be able to cancel the deletion process for 30 more days, after which all data will be permanently deleted.
