How to turn on comments on YouTube?
YouTube allows to adjust comment parameters for your channel on both the individual video level and the entire channel level.
Note that you won't be able to change comment settings in 3 instances — your video is private, it is labeled as "made for kids", or your account is supervised (i.e. parental control is enabled). In all other cases, here's how to change your comment settings on YouTube:
Turn YouTube comments on or off for the whole channel
- Log into your YouTube Studio;
- On the left-side menu, select Settings;
- In there, find the Community tab, and go to the Defaults option there;
- Adjust your default settings under the Comments on your channel / new videos accordingly;
- Save the changes.
Depending on whether your channel has the Community tab enabled, the exact parameter name can differ slightly. If you don't have the Community tab enabled, it'll be called Comments on your new videos. Otherwise, the parameter will be called Comments on your channel.
Turn YouTube comments on or off for an individual video
- Log into your YouTube Studio;
- On the left-side menu, select Content. Or simply follow this link;
- Click on the thumbnail of the video you'd like to adjust;
- Scroll down until you see the Show more option. Click it;
- There, find the Comments and ratings parameter and adjust it accordingly;
- Save the changes.
Note that you can adjust the comment settings for multiple videos at once using the bulk edit feature.
